Hello!   You are probably one of the thousands of people who were let down at school by your teachers who never bothered to teach you how to use your language — English — properly. The reason for that was that they had been let down by their teachers and didn't know good English themselves.   The result is that you keep making mistakes when you speak and write and don't even know it.   Now, this is a site that promotes the use of good English but it is absolutely not full of all that stuffy grammar that they never told you about at school because it is just s-o-o-o boring

In fact, it was a smart step on your part to click on this site because you may be looking for a job and need to write a letter of application, you may be a parent who wants to help your kids with their homework; or are you a salesman who needs to write to customers and just can't manage to put a convincing letter together?   Maybe spelling is your headache or are you confused about that wretched apostrophe: you know that it goes in there somewhere but just can't work out where.

English is your language so you are really lucky because it is a fabulously rich language full of treasures for you to use as you wish.   You just need to know how.   It is there for the taking.   The better you can speak and write, the greater your chance of making it in life.   This is the site that can help you.   It does not involve any membership or subscriptions - it is public and free.   IT IS THERE FOR YOU.

It differs from other English language sites on the net in that it is neither a school nor a language course, it is designed specifically for UK users (although other English-speakers could also benefit from it), it is a reference site and it offers a free advisory and assistance service for native English speakers.

Enter this site which has been built for ease of navigability and have a look around.   Start by clicking on the link at the foot of this page which will take you to

...... The Quick 'n' Easy Guide  ......
for a first introduction to the site. Once you feel at home, you can click on the site map which lists absolutely everything that is on the site.   There you can pick and choose any subject that might interest you.   The "Comedy of Errors" section is full of surprises and the "Rogues' Gallery" is fun.   As you grow familiar with the site, you can start using the tabs at the top of the screens to navigate from section to section.

You may just dip into the site from time to time or use it as your "search machine" of the English language.   If you have a problem and cannot find the solution on the site for yourself, you can always e-mail the address that appears on every page and someone will be on hand to provide the answer.

So give it a go, just click here, and have a browse.
